Background:

Alessandra Leggio is the forensic accounting partner at Grewal Guyatt LLP in Toronto, Canada. She started her career as a forensic accountant over ten years ago at EY in the Miami, Florida office and transferred to EY in Toronto prior to joining GG.

 

She was born in Venezuela and is familiar with the business practices of emerging and local markets. Alessandra is fluent in English and Spanish. She also speaks Italian proficiently. She is skilled in connecting with her clients and assisting them in navigating complex situations in a comprehensible manner.

 

She is a Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario, a Certified Public Accountant in Florida, and has been engaged to conduct forensic accounting services across the globe. Aside from holding Canadian and U.S. CPA designations, Alessandra is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified Forensic Investigator (CFI). As a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, she recently presented at the annual conference in Canada (November 2022) on the Importance and Significance of Fraud Risk Assessments.

 

Throughout her career, she has led several investigations related to corporate fraud within the construction, mining, healthcare, financial services, and automotive industries, amongst others. Furthermore, those projects have been conducted across the United States, Canada, and Latin America, including several high-profile engagements such as the Panama Papers. While she continues to deal with engagements focused on corporate fraud, she is also heavily involved with financial dispute cases.

 

Alessandra is skilled at ensuring that her clients understand the flow of funds as they relate to each case and the significance of key transactions. She is passionate about figuring out the missing link in any given situation. She also works diligently with her team to support organizations through risk assessments and the implementation of internal controls, including policies and procedures.
