The Senior Manager, is responsible for overseeing and leading multiple client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit and accounting services. This role provides strategic oversight, technical guidance, and mentorship while supporting firm-wide quality assurance initiatives and fostering strong client relationships.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage multiple audits and assurance engagements from planning to completion, ensuring client service excellence.
- Ensure assurance engagements comply with applicable professional standards and firm methodology.
- Address and resolve technical complex accounting and auditing matters.
- Review financial statements and audit deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
- Keep abreast of changes in accounting trends, legislation, and regulatory requirements, and advise clients and teams accordingly.
- Manage multiple concurrent assignments efficiently, meeting deadlines and budget targets.
- Mentor and provide guidance to managers, seniors, and junior staff on technical, procedural, and professional development matters.
- Liaise with clients to clarify accounting issues, obtain information, and provide strategic updates on engagement progress.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of audit tools, templates, and methodologies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within engagements and across the firm.
- Assist in staff performance evaluations, succession planning, and career development initiatives.
- Ability to communicate clearly at all levels with a proven track record of establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
- Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, RFPs, presentations and firm networking events.
- Lead firm quality control processes, including quality assurance reviews for the assurance and accounting division.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with a minimum of 6–8 years of relevant public accounting experience, including prior leadership experience.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Senior Manager within the Public Accounting industry, with progressive responsibility.
- Previous experience with various accounting frameworks applicable in Canada (IFRS, ASPE, NPO, and/or Public Sector).
- Strong client service skills with the ability to understand complex client businesses and develop and maintain senior-level client relationships.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and complex engagements while taking initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and mentor staff.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Experience with CaseWare and Taxprep is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and client presentations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
