Role and Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of, Non-Profit Organization (NPO), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) to client engagements.
  • Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses and manage multiple files simultaneously.
  • Summarize current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other relevant reports.
  • Obtain audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expenses.
  • Review and investigate discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts.
  • Prepare client summaries outlining engagement findings, facts, and highlights.
  • Support the Associates with administrative and/or client report presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance major is preferred) or equivalent. Transcript must be submitted for consideration.
  • 6 months – 1 year of experience in a Public Accounting firm is preferred.
  • Working towards prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
  • Previous accounting related office experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with CCH (Tax Prep) and CaseWare is considered an asset.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Communication and computer competency skills.
